The Adjacent Possible
w/ Joshua-Michéle Ross & Adam Brick
Online interactive experience (2020–current)The Adjacent Possible is a live, interactive theater experience. Using music, storytelling, improvisational performance, and technology the audience is transformed into an orchestra. The show culminates in the performance of a piece of music — the first and last ever to take place.
Initially created prior to the pandemic as a physical performance by artist Joshua-Michéle Ross, Specific Ideas worked with Ross and creative technologist Adam Brick to design and produce an interactive, virtual experience — a browser-based website application that utilizes Zoom for audio output — wherein participants perform and record music, a conductor narrates and instructs, all in realtime.
